Key facts

An EV battery-pack gasket is the lid or housing seal that keeps water, dust and wash spray out of a traction-battery pack, charger or BESS cabinet joint. Margo Rubber moulds battery-pack gaskets endless up to 24 × 24 inches (about 610 × 610 mm) in Vilholi, Nashik.

No gasket alone makes a battery pack IP67, because IEC 60529 rates the tested enclosure, including lid stiffness, bolt spacing and closing force. Margo Rubber sizes the gasket section from the lid drawing, in silicone (−60 to +200 °C) with low compression set, or EPDM to +140 °C.

Rubber Compound Options

Select the compound best suited to your operating environment and application requirements.

RankCompoundTemperatureChoose it when
DefaultSilicone−60 to +200 °CPack gaskets near heat, to +200 °C, with low compression set.
Leave Silicone if…the cabinet lives outdoors—Specify EPDM (−40/+140 °C) for UV and ozone.
Leave Silicone if…the lid is light and the bolts are far apart—Specify a sponge grade, which seals at a lower closing force.
Leave Silicone if…the joint is at a cable entry—Neoprene (−40/+120 °C) grommets suit cable entry and weather.

Key advantages

Why Specifiers Choose Margo

  • Endless where the outline allows

Up to 24 × 24 inches moulded in one piece; larger outlines get vulcanised corner joints.

  • The IP rating is the enclosure’s

IEC 60529 rates the tested enclosure. We size the gasket section and compression to help yours pass; we do not print a rating on a gasket.

  • Flammability on the drawing

Name the UL 94 or other rating your drawing calls for and we confirm whether a compound route exists. We hold no UL listing.

  • Paperwork your quality team asks for

RoHS declarations for every compound, PPAP on request, and a test report in every shipment.

Global Applications

Manufacturing process

From Compound to Certification

  1. Material compounding

Polymer, fillers and cure system mixed in-house for the medium and temperature on your drawing. Cure is checked on our ODR rheometer.

  2. Tool design

Moulds designed and made for your part and held as a controlled record. When a mould already exists, first samples take 48–72 hours.

  3. Moulding

Compression moulded, with the cavity count set by your volume.

  4. Extrusion

Larger outlines extruded and cured on the line, corners vulcanised.

  5. Trimming

Flash trimmed to the edge condition on the drawing.

  6. Inspection

Dimensions against the drawing, hardness and batch sampling. Results go into the shipment documents.

  7. Export packing

Packed by part number with labels that match the inspection sheet. ISPM-15 treated pallets where timber is used.

Quality assurance

Tested in Our Own Lab, Documented in Every Shipment

Every consignment ships with a material test report, a dimensional inspection sheet and a certificate of conformance. Hardness, tensile and elongation (ASTM D412), density, compression set (ASTM D395 Method B), heat ageing, ozone resistance, fluid swell and low-temperature tests run in our own lab, and cure curves run on our own ODR rheometer. PPAP is available on request. RoHS declarations are issued for all compounds.

FAQ

Technical & Commercial Questions

Answers to the most common questions from engineering teams and procurement managers worldwide.

  • What is the minimum order for battery-pack gaskets?

There is no fixed number. The minimum is set by part size and tooling, and we quote it with the part. Send the drawing and your annual volume and you get both figures in one reply. Prototype and first-article lots sit outside the minimum.

  • Will your gasket make my pack IP67?

No gasket can promise that alone. IEC 60529 rates the tested enclosure: gasket, lid stiffness, bolt spacing and closing force together. Send the lid drawing and we size the section for it.

  • How large a gasket can you mould in one piece?

Up to 24 × 24 inches (about 610 × 610 mm). Larger outlines are made as an extruded profile with joined corners.

  • Do you send test reports with each shipment?

Yes, with every consignment: material test report, dimensional inspection sheet and certificate of conformance. Hardness, tensile to ASTM D412 and compression set to ASTM D395 Method B are tested in-house.

  • What are your payment and delivery terms for export orders?

TT and LC, agreed per order. Ex-works Nashik or FOB Nhava Sheva. The commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin (Nashik Chamber of Commerce) travel with every consignment.
