Rocker-Cover, Sump & Intake-Manifold Gaskets — AEM, FKM or Silicone

Press-in-place and flat moulded gaskets for rocker covers, sumps, timing covers, gearbox pans and differentials, and for intake manifolds, water pumps, thermostats and oil-filter housings. Moulded in AEM, FKM or silicone (VMQ) to your drawing. Exhaust-manifold gaskets are MLS steel, not rubber, so we don’t make them. Made at our plant in Vilholi, Nashik.

Key facts

Rocker-cover and sump gaskets are press-in-place or flat moulded rubber seals between an engine cover and its housing that hold back hot oil and blow-by. Margo Rubber moulds rocker-cover, sump and intake-manifold gaskets in AEM, FKM or silicone (VMQ) to the cover drawing in Vilholi, Nashik.

Margo Rubber specifies AEM for rocker covers and sumps to +160 °C continuous, silicone (VMQ) to +200 °C and FKM to +250 °C. Exhaust-manifold gaskets are multi-layer steel (MLS), not rubber, so Margo does not make them.

RankCompoundTemperatureChoose it when
DefaultAEM−40 to +160 °CHot engine oil and blow-by on rocker covers and sumps, to +160 °C continuous.
Leave AEM if…the joint sees fuel or runs hotter—Specify FKM (−20/+250 °C).
Leave AEM if…the joint is coolant-side—Specify EPDM (−40/+140 °C).
Leave AEM if…the joint sees dry heat, not oil—Specify silicone (−60/+200 °C), which does not suit hot oil over long service.
Leave AEM if…it is an exhaust-manifold joint—That is an MLS steel gasket, not rubber. We don’t make it.

Key advantages

Why Specifiers Choose Margo

  • Compound by fluid

Oil side gets AEM or FKM; coolant side takes EPDM. The fluid decides, not the part name.

  • Sized to the groove

Press-in-place gaskets are moulded to fill your groove section, so they stay put when the cover goes on.

  • We say what we don’t make

Exhaust-manifold gaskets are MLS steel. Buying them from a rubber maker is a mistake we won’t sell you.

  • Tested in-house

Compression set, heat ageing and fluid swell in our own lab, with the report in every shipment.

Manufacturing process

From Compound to Certification

  1. Material compounding

Polymer, fillers and cure system mixed in-house for the medium and temperature on your drawing. Cure is checked on our ODR rheometer.

  2. Tool design

Moulds designed and made for your part and held as a controlled record. When a mould already exists, first samples take 48–72 hours.

  3. Moulding

Compression moulded, with the cavity count set by your volume.

  4. Trimming

Flash trimmed to the edge condition on the drawing.

  5. Inspection

Dimensions against the drawing, hardness and batch sampling. Results go into the shipment documents.

  6. Export packing

Packed by part number with labels that match the inspection sheet. ISPM-15 treated pallets where timber is used.

Quality assurance

Tested in Our Own Lab, Documented in Every Shipment

Every consignment ships with a material test report, a dimensional inspection sheet and a certificate of conformance. Hardness, tensile and elongation (ASTM D412), density, compression set (ASTM D395 Method B), heat ageing, ozone resistance, fluid swell and low-temperature tests run in our own lab, and cure curves run on our own ODR rheometer. PPAP is available on request. RoHS declarations are issued for all compounds.

FAQ

Technical & Commercial Questions

Answers to the most common questions from engineering teams and procurement managers worldwide.

  • What is the minimum order for cover and sump gaskets?

There is no fixed number. The minimum is set by part size and tooling, and we quote it with the part. Send the drawing and your annual volume and you get both figures in one reply. Prototype and first-article lots sit outside the minimum.

  • Do you make exhaust-manifold gaskets?

No. They are multi-layer steel (MLS), not rubber.

  • Can you copy a gasket from a used one?

Yes, with the cover or its drawing. A used gasket has taken a set, so we size from the groove, not the squashed part.

  • Do you send test reports with each shipment?

Yes, with every consignment: material test report, dimensional inspection sheet and certificate of conformance. Hardness, tensile to ASTM D412 and compression set to ASTM D395 Method B are tested in-house.

  • What are your payment and delivery terms for export orders?

TT and LC, agreed per order. Ex-works Nashik or FOB Nhava Sheva. The commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin (Nashik Chamber of Commerce) travel with every consignment.
