Key facts

An exhaust hanger is a rubber isolator that carries the exhaust system from the vehicle body and stops engine vibration reaching the cabin. Margo Rubber moulds exhaust hangers in heat-resistant EPDM, plain or bonded to a metal insert, to the hanger-rod positions on the drawing, in Vilholi, Nashik.

Exhaust hangers usually tear at the pin hole because heat hardened the rubber or the system was too heavy for a plain hanger. Margo Rubber moves hot positions from EPDM (to +140 °C) to AEM (to +160 °C), and adds a bonded insert where the system is heavy.

Rubber Compound Options

Select the compound best suited to your operating environment and application requirements.

RankCompoundTemperatureChoose it when
DefaultEPDM−40 to +140 °CHeat-resistant EPDM for a hanger that sees exhaust heat, road water and salt.
Leave EPDM if…the hanger sits close to the manifold or catalyst—Specify AEM (−40/+160 °C).
Leave EPDM if…oil drips onto it—Specify AEM, which holds up to hot oil better than EPDM.
Leave EPDM if…the system is heavy—Ask for a bonded insert, which carries the load without the rubber tearing at the pin hole.

Key advantages

Why Specifiers Choose Margo

  • Heat first, then stiffness

We choose the compound for the heat at the hanger position, then set the hardness for the isolation you need.

  • Plain or bonded

Plain moulded hangers for light systems; rubber bonded to a metal insert where the load is higher.

  • Bonded in one cure

The rubber is bonded to the insert as it cures, not glued on afterwards.

  • Tested in-house

Heat ageing, hardness and tensile in our own lab, with the report in every shipment.

Global Applications

Manufacturing process

From Compound to Certification

  1. Material compounding

Polymer, fillers and cure system mixed in-house for the medium and temperature on your drawing. Cure is checked on our ODR rheometer.

  2. Tool design

Moulds designed and made for your part and held as a controlled record. When a mould already exists, first samples take 48–72 hours.

  3. Moulding

Compression moulded, with the cavity count set by your volume.

  4. Trimming

Flash trimmed to the edge condition on the drawing.

  5. Inspection

Dimensions against the drawing, hardness and batch sampling. Results go into the shipment documents.

  6. Export packing

Packed by part number with labels that match the inspection sheet. ISPM-15 treated pallets where timber is used.

Quality assurance

Tested in Our Own Lab, Documented in Every Shipment

Every consignment ships with a material test report, a dimensional inspection sheet and a certificate of conformance. Hardness, tensile and elongation (ASTM D412), density, compression set (ASTM D395 Method B), heat ageing, ozone resistance, fluid swell and low-temperature tests run in our own lab, and cure curves run on our own ODR rheometer. PPAP is available on request. RoHS declarations are issued for all compounds.

FAQ

Technical & Commercial Questions

Answers to the most common questions from engineering teams and procurement managers worldwide.

  • What is the minimum order for exhaust hangers?

There is no fixed number. The minimum is set by part size and tooling, and we quote it with the part. Send the drawing and your annual volume and you get both figures in one reply. Prototype and first-article lots sit outside the minimum.

  • Can you copy a hanger from a sample?

Yes. Send the old hanger, even if it has torn, with the rod diameter. We take the pin spacing from it; tell us the position and we pick the compound.

  • Why did my old hanger tear at the pin hole?

Usually heat hardened the rubber or the system was too heavy for a plain hanger. Send the position and we suggest a higher-temperature compound or a bonded insert.

  • Do you send test reports with each shipment?

Yes, with every consignment: material test report, dimensional inspection sheet and certificate of conformance. Hardness, tensile to ASTM D412 and compression set to ASTM D395 Method B are tested in-house.

  • What are your payment and delivery terms for export orders?

TT and LC, agreed per order. Ex-works Nashik or FOB Nhava Sheva. The commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin (Nashik Chamber of Commerce) travel with every consignment.
