Slotted Packing Pad — C-Section
A moulded rubber packing pad, open on one side, so it slides in beside a bolt or shaft instead of over it. It carries load and holds a gap — and because it is slotted, it can be fitted or replaced in service without dismantling the assembly around it.

Rubber Compound Options
Select the compound best suited to your operating environment and application requirements.
| Rank | Compound | Temperature | Why, for a slotted packing pad |
|---|---|---|---|
| Recommended | Natural rubber | −20 to +90 °C | Best fatigue resistance and highest resilience of the eight, and the least creep under sustained load — so the gap it was fitted to hold stays held. Not for oil, and it perishes in prolonged sunlight |
| Recommended | Neoprene | −40 to +120 °C | Where the pad is exposed to weather or sees oil. Good fatigue life with better ozone resistance than natural rubber |
| Suitable | SBR | −30 to +100 °C | Low-cost enclosed packing. Fatigue life below natural rubber and no oil resistance |
| Suitable | EPDM | −40 to +140 °C | Weather, ozone and steam. Creeps more than natural rubber, so allow for it in the deflection |
| Suitable | NBR | −30 to +120 °C | Where the pad sits in oil. Poor ozone resistance, so not for an exposed position |
| Available | Silicone | −60 to +220 °C | High temperature. Low tear strength makes it a weak choice for a slotted pad, where the slot is a stress raiser |
| Not recommended | FKM · AEM | See the compound table | Expensive sealing compounds with no fatigue advantage in a packing pad |

Key advantages
Why Specifiers Choose Margo
Goes on without taking anything apart
The slot lets the pad slide in beside a bolt or shaft rather than over it. On a service job that is the difference between slackening a fastener and stripping an assembly — which is usually why the shape was chosen in the first place.
Hardness will not tell you how it behaves
Rubber bulges rather than compresses, so a thin wide pad is far stiffer than a thick narrow one of the same compound. Send the load and the gap you need held, and we set the shape and the hardness together.
It keeps sinking after you fit it
Rubber under permanent load creeps for years, and a packing pad that loses 2 mm has stopped doing its job. We allow for it at the design stage rather than shipping a pad that is correct on day one.
Tell us what holds it in
An open pad has one less thing keeping it in place than a closed one. Friction, a groove, adhesive or captive under the fastener — the answer changes the hardness and sometimes the outline, and it is the question that prevents a pad walking out under vibration.
Industries served
Global Applications
Heavy industry
shimming and packing under machine feet, gearboxes and bearing housings, where dismantling means downtime
Automotive
body and bracket packing, and anti-rattle spacing fitted around existing fasteners
Agriculture
implement and cab mounting packs on equipment serviced in the field
Infrastructure
plant and equipment packing. Not structural bearings, which are certified separately
Manufacturing process
From Compound to Certification
Material compounding
Polymer blending, additive integration and batch QC in our in-house lab. The compound is chosen for creep resistance first, since the pad has to hold a gap for years.
Mould Design & CNC
Mould design and CNC tool manufacture, in-house, held as a controlled record. Outline and thickness are set together to reach the load and deflection, and the slot root is radiused rather than square, because a sharp corner is where a slotted pad tears.
Compression Moulding
Compression moulding.
Post-Cure & Trimming
Post-cure and trimming, with the slot edges finished so nothing is left to initiate a tear.
Quality inspection
Slot width gauged against the fastener size, plus dimensional check, hardness and load-deflection on batch samples.
Export packaging
Industrial packing with documentation. Pads are packed flat and unloaded, since rubber stored under compression takes a set. ISPM-15 treated pallets where timber packaging is used.
Quality assurance
Certified to International Standards
Every product leaves our facility with a documentation package — material test reports, dimensional inspection sheets and a certificate of conformance — giving traceability from raw material to finished part.

These are industrial and automotive packing pads. We do not supply structural bearings for bridges or buildings, which are certified separately under EN 1337.

Technical & Commercial Questions
Answers to the most common questions from engineering teams and procurement managers worldwide.
What is the minimum order quantity for this part?
We supply in bulk. The minimum run is 10,000 pieces per part number, per compound, or quoted against the part where geometry or tooling makes that unrealistic. Prototype and first-article lots sit outside the minimum.
Can you match a competitor specification or reverse-engineer an existing part?
Yes — but send the load as well as the pad. A pad taken out of service has crept and measures thinner than it was moulded, so copying its dimensions reproduces a part that is already part-worn. We work back from the gap it has to hold and what sits on it.
What file formats do you accept for drawings?
PDF, DWG and DXF. For this part a marked-up outline is enough — slot width to clear your fastener, overall size, and the thickness you need held. Add the load per pad and hardness becomes our output rather than your input.
Do you provide material test reports with each shipment?
Yes. Material test reports, dimensional inspection sheets and a certificate of conformance ship with every consignment. Hardness, tensile to ASTM D412 and compression set to ASTM D395 Method B are tested in-house, and slot width is gauged against the fastener size on every batch.
What are your payment and delivery terms for international orders?
TT and LC accepted, discussed per order. Ex-works Nashik or FOB Nhava Sheva. Commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin are issued with every consignment. Pads ship flat and unloaded.
