Flat Packing Pad — Moulded to Your Load and Gap

A plain moulded rubber pad that carries load and holds a gap — the closed shape, where a slot or an angle is not wanted. Specified on the load it takes and the deflection you can allow, not on hardness alone, because a pad’s stiffness comes from its proportions as much as its compound. EPDM as standard.

Rubber Compound Options

Select the compound best suited to your operating environment and application requirements.

RankCompoundTemperatureWhy, for a flat packing pad
RecommendedEPDM−40 to +140 °CWeather, ozone, UV, water and steam, and it stays flexible cold. Creeps more than natural rubber under sustained load, so allow for it in the deflection
RecommendedNatural rubber−20 to +90 °CWhere the pad carries sustained load. Best fatigue resistance, highest resilience and least creep of the eight, so the gap stays held. Not for oil, and it perishes in prolonged sunlight
SuitableNeoprene−40 to +120 °CThe compromise where the pad is both loaded and exposed — good fatigue life with reasonable weathering
SuitableNBR−30 to +120 °CWhere the pad sits in oil. Poor ozone resistance, so not for an exposed position
SuitableSBR−30 to +100 °CLow-cost enclosed packing. Fatigue life below natural rubber and no oil resistance
AvailableSilicone−60 to +220 °CHigh temperature. Low tear strength and poor fatigue resistance make it a weak choice under load

not hardness alone

Key advantages

Why Specifiers Choose Margo

  • Every pad in every compound

The compound is not what makes one pad different from another — the shape is. Any pad in this range can be moulded in any of the eight compounds we mix, so tell us the duty and we will name the material.

  • Hardness will not tell you how it behaves

Rubber bulges rather than compresses, so a thin wide pad is far stiffer than a thick narrow one of the same compound. Send the load and the deflection you can allow, and we set the shape and the hardness together.

  • Weather or load — they pull apart

EPDM survives sunlight and ozone; natural rubber holds a gap without creeping. Where the pad is exposed and loaded we quote neoprene and explain the trade rather than defaulting to whichever we mixed last.

  • Holes moulded in, not punched after

Fixing holes formed in the tool are cleaner and stronger than holes cut afterwards, and the pad keeps its full section around them. Send the bolt pattern with the outline.

Industries served

Global Applications

  • Heavy industry

machine feet, shimming under gearboxes and bearing housings, anti-abrasion packing between metal faces

  • Automotive

bracket and body packing, anti-rattle spacing, protective pads between painted panels

  • Infrastructure

plant and equipment packing. Not structural bearings, which are certified separately

  • Agriculture

implement and cab packing on equipment worked and washed outdoors

Manufacturing process

From Compound to Certification

  1. Material compounding

Polymer blending, additive integration and batch QC in our in-house lab. The compound is chosen for creep resistance first, since a packing pad has to hold its gap for years.

  2. Mould Design & CNC

Mould design and CNC tool manufacture, in-house, held as a controlled record. Footprint and thickness are set together to reach the load and deflection, and fixing holes are formed in the tool rather than cut afterwards.

  3. Compression Moulding

    Compression moulding.

  4. Post-Cure & Trimming

Post-cure and trimming, with adhesive backing applied where specified.

  5. Quality inspection

Dimensional check, hardness, and load-deflection tested on batch samples against the approved drawing.

  6. Export packaging

Industrial packing with documentation. Pads are packed flat and unloaded, since rubber stored under compression takes a set before it is ever fitted. ISPM-15 treated pallets where timber packaging is used.

Quality assurance

Certified to International Standards

Every product leaves our facility with a documentation package — material test reports, dimensional inspection sheets and a certificate of conformance — giving traceability from raw material to finished part.

  • ISO 9001:2015 · Certificate 09111526A

Integral Certification Ltd · Valid to 21 February 2027

Scope: rubber moulded components — quality management, not a product approval

  • IATF 16949 — upgrade in progress, certification targeted by end 2026

  • ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 — targeted 2027

These are industrial and automotive packing pads. We do not supply structural bearings for bridges or buildings, which are certified separately under EN 1337.

FAQ

Technical & Commercial Questions

Answers to the most common questions from engineering teams and procurement managers worldwide.

  • What is the minimum order quantity for this part?

We supply in bulk. The minimum run is 10,000 pieces per part number, per compound, or quoted against the part where geometry or tooling makes that unrealistic. Prototype and first-article lots sit outside the minimum.

  • Can you match a competitor specification or reverse-engineer an existing part?

Yes — but send the load as well as the pad. A pad taken out of service has crept and measures thinner than it was moulded, so copying its dimensions reproduces a part that is already part-worn. We work back from the gap it has to hold and what sits on it.

  • What file formats do you accept for drawings?

PDF, DWG and DXF. An outline with the bolt pattern marked is enough — add the load per pad and the deflection you can allow, and hardness becomes our output rather than your input. A 3D model is not required for a flat pad.

  • Do you provide material test reports with each shipment?

Yes. Material test reports, dimensional inspection sheets and a certificate of conformance ship with every consignment. Hardness, tensile to ASTM D412 and compression set to ASTM D395 Method B are tested in-house, and load-deflection is checked on batch samples against the approved drawing.

  • What are your payment and delivery terms for international orders?

TT and LC accepted, discussed per order. Ex-works Nashik or FOB Nhava Sheva. Commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin are issued with every consignment. Pads ship flat and unloaded.

Need this part quoted?

Send the load per pad, the gap you need held and the space available — an outline if you have one, a sample if you do not. We return the size, the compound and the hardness, then quote against your annual quantity. We respond within 48 hours.
