Dust Covers & Protective Boots — Moulded to Your Rod, Lever or Switch

Moulded rubber dust covers and protective boots for linkages, levers, switches, rod ends and connectors. They keep grit, water and wash spray out of the moving joint and stretch over the part without splitting. Made to your drawing or a sample at our plant in Vilholi, Nashik.

Key facts

A protective boot is a moulded rubber cover that stretches over a linkage, lever, switch, rod end or connector and keeps grit, water and wash spray out of the moving joint. Margo Rubber moulds dust covers and boots in one piece to a drawing or sample in Vilholi, Nashik.

Neoprene (CR), rated −40 to +120 °C, is Margo Rubber’s usual compound for an outdoor dust boot that sees weather and light oil splash. A cracked old boot still gives the mounting sizes, so a buyer can send it with the part it fits over and Margo copies it.

Key advantages

Why Specifiers Choose Margo

  • Fitted to the part, not the catalogue

We mould to your rod, lever or housing, so the boot holds without a hose clip it was never meant to need.

  • Grease-proof where it counts

On a greased joint we specify NBR; neoprene takes only light splash.

  • Thin wall, one piece

Flexes with the travel and has no seam to split.

  • Same lab, same report

Hardness and tensile tested in-house, with the report in the shipment.

Global Applications

Manufacturing process

From Compound to Certification

  1. Material compounding

Polymer, fillers and cure system mixed in-house for the medium and temperature on your drawing. Cure is checked on our ODR rheometer.

  2. Tool design

Moulds designed and made for your part and held as a controlled record. When a mould already exists, first samples take 48–72 hours.

  3. Moulding

Compression moulded, with the cavity count set by your volume.

  4. Trimming

Flash trimmed to the edge condition on the drawing.

  5. Inspection

Dimensions against the drawing, hardness and batch sampling. Results go into the shipment documents.

  6. Export packing

Packed by part number with labels that match the inspection sheet. ISPM-15 treated pallets where timber is used.

Quality assurance

Tested in Our Own Lab, Documented in Every Shipment

Every consignment ships with a material test report, a dimensional inspection sheet and a certificate of conformance. Hardness, tensile and elongation (ASTM D412), density, compression set (ASTM D395 Method B), heat ageing, ozone resistance, fluid swell and low-temperature tests run in our own lab, and cure curves run on our own ODR rheometer. PPAP is available on request. RoHS declarations are issued for all compounds.

FAQ

Technical & Commercial Questions

Answers to the most common questions from engineering teams and procurement managers worldwide.

  • What is the minimum order for dust covers and boots?

There is no fixed number. The minimum is set by part size and tooling, and we quote it with the part. Send the drawing and your annual volume and you get both figures in one reply. Prototype and first-article lots sit outside the minimum.

  • Can you copy an old boot?

Yes. Send the old boot and the part it fits over. A cracked boot still gives us the mounting sizes.

  • Do you make CV-joint and steering boots?

Yes, to a drawing. This page covers general dust covers; ask for vehicle boots by name.

  • Do you send test reports with each shipment?

Yes, with every consignment: material test report, dimensional inspection sheet and certificate of conformance. Hardness, tensile to ASTM D412 and compression set to ASTM D395 Method B are tested in-house.

  • What are your payment and delivery terms for export orders?

TT and LC, agreed per order. Ex-works Nashik or FOB Nhava Sheva. The commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin (Nashik Chamber of Commerce) travel with every consignment.

Need this part quoted?

Send the drawing or a sample boot, with the part it covers, the medium and your annual quantity. We respond within 48 hours.
