Anti-Slip Side Step Pad
Moulded anti-slip rubber pad for SUV side steps and running boards — takes a person’s full weight on every entry, wet, muddy or frozen, and has to keep its grip doing it. Moulded to your drawing at our ISO 9001:2015 plant in Nashik. Supplied to your drawing or sample. Fitments include Mahindra Scorpio and Scorpio-N, Bolero and comparable SUV side-step frames.

Available materials
Rubber Compound Options
Select the compound best suited to your operating environment and application requirements.
Compound
EPDM
Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer
Temperature range
−40 to +140 °C
40–90 Shore A
For this part
UV and ozone resistant — the compound the accessory trade means when it advertises a UV-resistant pad. Holds colour and grip through Indian summers
Compound
Natural Rubber
Polyisoprene (NR)
Temperature range
−20 to +90 °C
30–80 Shore A
For this part
Best abrasion and tear resistance of the eight — longest tread life, but it perishes faster in direct sun. Specify where the step is sheltered or the pad is replaced on service
Compound
Neoprene
Polychloroprene (CR)
Temperature range
−40 to +120 °C
40–90 Shore A
For this part
The compromise — good weathering, moderate abrasion. Specify where the step also sees oil or fuel spillage
Compound
NBR
Nitrile Butadiene Rubber
Temperature range
−30 to +120 °C
40–90 Shore A
For this part
Specify for workshop, plant or fuel-station duty where oil contact is constant
Compound
AEM
Ethylene Acrylic Elastomer (Vamac)
Temperature range
−40 to +175 °C continuous to +160 °C
50–80 Shore A
For this part
No benefit on a step pad; available if a programme standardises on it
Compound
SBR
Styrene Butadiene Rubber
Temperature range
−30 to +100 °C
40–90 Shore A
For this part
Poor ozone resistance — this is the compound that makes a step pad go grey and crack.
Compound
Silicone
Vinyl Methyl Silicone (VMQ)
Temperature range
−60 to +220 °C
30–80 Shore A
For this part
Low tear and abrasion resistance — a tread pattern under boots would not survive
Compound
FKM
Fluoroelastomer (Viton)
Temperature range
−20 to +250 °C continuous to +200 °C
60–90 Shore A
For this part
Several times the cost with no benefit, and stops at −20 °C on an exterior part

Key advantages
Why Specifiers Choose Margo
It fails by cracking, not by wearing
Step pads go grey, hard and split long before the tread wears out. That is ozone and UV, not abrasion — and it is why the compound matters more than the tread depth.
Tread is the specification
Pattern and depth decide wet grip, and grip is the whole job. Send your frame or a sample pad — we match the pattern and the fixing centres from it.
Bonded to your frame, or studded
Supplied loose, bonded to your steel step, or moulded with push-in studs. Rubber-to-metal bonding is done here, so the pad and the bond are one process.
Eight compounds, one right answer
EPDM for sun, natural rubber for wear, neoprene for oil. We mix all eight in-house and will tell you which your step needs.

Manufacturing process
From Compound to Certification
Material compounding
Polymer blending, additive integration and batch QC in our in-house lab. Abrasion resistance and wet grip are set here — a step tread is walked on with grit underfoot.
Mould design & CNC
Precision steel tooling manufactured in-house and held as a controlled record. The tread pattern is cut into the tool, so the pattern is a tooling decision, not a finishing one.
Compression moulding
Hydraulic press cycles at controlled temperature and pressure. Correct for this part, with transfer moulding where studs or a frame are bonded in
Post-cure & trimming
Oven post-cure for dimensional stability, followed by flash trimming.
Quality inspection
Dimensional check, hardness testing and batch sampling before release. Tread depth is the dimension checked, and abrasion is tested per compound.
Export packaging
Industrial packing with documentation. ISPM-15 treated pallets where timber packaging is used. Mats are packed flat — a rolled mat holds its curl and will not lie down on the step.
Quality assurance
Certified to International Standards
Every product leaves our facility with a documentation package — material test reports, dimensional inspection sheets and a certificate of conformance — giving traceability from raw material to finished part.

Technical & Commercial Questions
Answers to the most common questions from engineering teams and procurement managers worldwide.
What is the minimum order quantity for this part?
We supply in bulk. The minimum run is 10,000 pieces per part number, per compound, or quoted against the part where geometry or tooling makes that unrealistic. Prototype and first-article lots sit outside the minimum.
Can you match a competitor specification or reverse-engineer an existing part?
Yes. Send the pad or the step frame and we will match the tread pattern, the outline and the fixing centres, then confirm compound before tooling. A used pad has worn tread and a shrunk outline — we dimension to the original, not to the worn sample.
What file formats do you accept for drawings?
PDF, DWG, DXF and STEP. For a tread pad the pattern artwork matters as much as the outline — send it as a DXF or a vector PDF if you have it. If you only have a sample pad, send the sample.
Do you provide material test reports with each shipment?
Yes. Material test reports, dimensional inspection sheets and a certificate of conformance ship with every consignment. Hardness, tensile to ASTM D412 and abrasion are tested in-house — on this part, abrasion is the one to ask for.
What are your payment and delivery terms for international orders?
TT and LC accepted, discussed per order. Ex-works Nashik or FOB Nhava Sheva. Commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin are issued with every consignment.
